Role Description
Design and create engaging, high-quality K-5 Spanish Language Arts curriculum for bilingual Spanish-English learners, supporting literacy growth and language proficiency through evidence-based practices and culturally responsive content. This role is responsible for ensuring all materials align with academic standards and effectively build core skills in Spanish language reading and writing. As a key member of our bilingual content development team, you will drive the creation, refinement, and ongoing improvement of curriculum resources that support exceptional learning experiences for young learners.

Design, translate, transadapt, and/or transcreate high-quality K-5 Spanish Language Arts curriculum in Spanish.

Ensure alignment with state and national Spanish Language Arts and language learning standards.

Translate, transadapt, and/or transcreate instructional planning tools and documents (e.g., scope and sequences, knowledge maps, pacing guides, etc.) in Spanish.

Evaluate English language materials for biliteracy connections and alignment across languages.

Translate, transadapt, and/or transcreate instructional materials in Spanish, including lesson plans, teacher guides, student materials, and assessments for Spanish Language Arts.

Review and provide feedback on curriculum drafts developed by other contributing designers, writers, and vendor partners to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment.

Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels and content areas to support skill progression and concept reinforcement.

Collaborate with subject matter experts, editors, instructional designers, and external vendors to produce engaging, culturally responsive, and grade-appropriate content.

Incorporate Science of Reading/Science of Learning research and evidence-based bilingual education practices into curriculum design.

Adapt content for diverse learning needs.

Conduct ongoing revisions based on feedback.

Lead and facilitate planning meetings and manage project internal and client-facing timelines.

Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including vendor partners.
Qualifications

Bachelorโs degree in education, Spanish Language Arts, curriculum and instruction, or related field (Masterโs preferred).

Seven (7) or more years of experience in Spanish Language Arts education, with strong emphasis on K-5.

Three (3) or more years of curriculum development and instructional design experience in Spanish Language Arts for English Language Learners.

Demonstrated experience in bilingual Spanish educational contexts.

Expert fluency in Spanish speaking, reading, writing in educational settings required.

Background and knowledge of biliteracy development, including cross-linguistic transfer, translanguaging, and instructional practices for emergent bilingual students in both English and Spanish.

Proven ability to write engaging, grade-level appropriate instructional materials for teachers and students.

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, alignment, and educational equity.

Comfort working with project management tools and navigating deadlines across multiple projects.

Experience working with external vendor partners (preferred).

Strong understanding of Spanish Language Arts and bilingual education pedagogy and best practices.

Familiarity with curriculum-authoring platforms (e.g., InDesign, CMS tools) preferred.

Experience with accessibility requirements and multilingual typography preferred.

Ability to manage, prioritize, and multi-task on multiple projects.
