Role Description

Through counselling, psychology, and behaviour support services, Nurah partners with NDIS participants, private clients, and referring professionals seeking a trusted, human-centred approach to wellbeing and support.

As Nurah continues to grow, we are excited to recruit a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our growing behaviour support services. This is an opportunity for an experienced practitioner to deliver high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred behaviour support services while supporting NDIS participants, including individuals with complex needs and behaviours of concern.

You will have the opportunity to work autonomously, manage a varied caseload and collaborate with participants, families, carers, support workers and service providers to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Reporting to our Behaviour Support – Clinical Lead, you will provide behaviour support services to NDIS participants, with a focus on improving quality of life, increasing independence and reducing restrictive practices.

You will conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments and develop, implement and review Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plans in collaboration with participants and relevant stakeholders.

The role will involve working with participants with varying levels of complexity, including complex and high-risk needs, while providing professional advice and guidance to families, carers and support teams.

You will work autonomously within your professional scope while maintaining high standards of clinical judgement, ethical practice, documentation and compliance.

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred behaviour support services to participants, including those with complex and high-risk needs.
• Conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments.
• Develop, implement and review individualised Positive Behaviour Support Plans in collaboration with participants and relevant stakeholders.
• Promote participant choice, control, dignity and human rights.
• Develop behaviour change strategies that are focused on participant goals and improved quality of life.
• Work to reduce and eliminate restrictive practices in line with legislation, NDIS requirements and best practice.
• Manage complex cases requiring multidisciplinary and multi-agency collaboration.
• Provide professional advice and guidance to families, carers, support workers and support teams.
• Identify risks and safeguarding issues and escalate appropriately.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and compliant documentation and case notes.
• Deliver services in accordance with the NDIS Act, NDIS Practice Standards and Positive Behaviour Support requirements.
• Contribute to audit readiness, incident management, complaints and feedback processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and service quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering behaviour support services within the NDIS.
• Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including navigating multiple service systems.
• Experience completing functional behaviour assessments and developing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Experience working with a range of stakeholders, including participants, families, carers, support workers and service providers.
• Understanding of restrictive practices, reporting requirements and safeguarding.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, timely and compliant case notes and documentation.
• Experience managing competing priorities and caseloads in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of the NDIS framework, Practice Standards and Quality & Safeguards requirements.
• Ability to work autonomously within professional scope and delegated authority.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.

• Cultural awareness and a commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive practice.

Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification, such as Psychology, Social Work, Behaviour Analysis, Allied Health, Disability or a related discipline.
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
• Core or Proficient status under the NDIS Behaviour Support Capability framework.
• Experience working with complex or high-risk participants.
