Role Description
Assistant Professors are full-time employed faculty who provide a variety of educational services to degree, certificate, and non-degree learners. They are responsible for meeting the expectations and requirements of Capella University while establishing and maintaining effective relationships with learners, colleagues, staff, and administration.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Teaching and Instruction:
Highly engaged instructors who exceed expectations for faculty at Capella. They use course data to improve teaching performance and enhance learner experience.

Doctoral Mentoring:
Knowledgeable about dissertation and doctoral capstone processes, developing strong relationships with learners and facilitating timely completion of their projects.

Curriculum and Course Development:
Knowledgeable in the Capella course development process, ensuring inclusiveness in curriculum design and course content.

School and University Governance:
Demonstrate leadership roles and actively participate in governance structures.

Professional Service and Practice:
Contribute professional knowledge to local communities and networks.

Research and Scholarship:
Stay current in scholarly fields and demonstrate expertise through various activities.

Leadership through Team Engagement:
Take on essential roles and contribute to departmental leadership.

Work Experience
-
Minimum of 2 years clinical practice as a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner required.
-
Experience teaching in higher education required.

Experience working remotely with teams required.

Evidence of supporting learner success and commitment to quality teaching outcomes required.

Experience with scholarly writing and use of APA required.
-
Two or more years teaching in an online setting preferred.
-
Experience teaching MSN NP in higher education preferred.
-
Experience with curriculum development preferred.
Education
-
Doctorate required.
-
Earned degree as a Nurse Practitioner (MSN or Doctoral) required.
-
All degrees must be conferred and from a regionally accredited institution.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
-
Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of residence required.
-
Current and unencumbered Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in state of residence required.
-
National certification (AANP or ANCC) as Nurse Practitioner: Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required.
Other

Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise.

Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location may be required based on role.

Must be able to meet critical thinking and problem-solving aspects aligned to job duties.

Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
Salary
$94,000.00 - $96,000.00 is the expected starting pay for this position.
