Role Description
Faculty for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program are sought to teach and mentor students in their role as mental health counselors. The Mental Health Counseling program focuses on preparing students academically, professionally, and personally to become skilled counselors.

Training:

All new Faculty Members receive specific training from Walden University in the techniques of online teaching.
-
Training includes the use of an electronic learning platform, specifics of the policies, procedures, and degree programs of the School or College.

Socialization into the Walden University culture, assessment of the academic integrity of student work, and research supervision of theses and dissertations.
-
Course Teaching/Availability:
-
Faculty Members are assigned a course taught using the Blackboard platform.
-
Responsible for interacting with students within this platform.
-
Discussion Boards for classrooms are open 24/7.
-
Expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week.
-
Responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours.
-
Required to verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions.

Provide feedback and grades to students through Blackboard.
-
Publish availability to students through course syllabi.

Travel Requirements:

Some travel could be required (minimally once per quarter).

Residencies:
-
Contributing Faculty may be asked to attend residencies/Pre-practica held domestically.
-
Teach intensives and colloquia, and facilitate school and university-wide discussions.

Tools/Technical Skills:
-
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Contributing faculty may complete training in dissertation chairing and service.

Eligible to serve on doctoral dissertations.
-
Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Technology Requirements:

Faculty members are required to have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform.

Must be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat.

Must have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable.

Licensing/Certification:
-
Must be appropriately credentialed and possess an earned degree from an accredited institution.

May be expected to be licensed or license-eligible in order to teach in specific programs.

Must maintain licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue teaching at Walden University.

Expected to maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
-
Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program.
-
Current state licensure as a mental health professional.
-
Minimum of three years of experience teaching and mentoring Master's and/or Doctoral level students.

Ability to provide leadership and mentoring for students in the research process.

Interest in establishing a community of mental health students.
-
Ability to provide leadership and support in program assessment.
-
Experience supervising students in their field training experience.
-
Commitment to the goals of diversity and social change.

Ability to work with non-traditional students.
-
Ability to participate in residencies/pre-practica, national faculty meetings, and other work-related travel.
Benefits
-
Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course.

Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course.

Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law.
