[Hiring] Adjunct Faculty - Forensic Psychology @LASELL UNIVERSITY

Role Description

The Social Sciences/Psychology Program in the School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences at Lasell University is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach Forensic Psychology for the Spring semester.

This course deals with the application of psychological knowledge to the judicial process and the criminal justice system. Topics covered include:

• Effects of defendant, juror and case characteristics on verdicts
• Variables affecting eyewitness accuracy, identification and testimony
• Role of forensic psychologists in competency and criminal responsibility assessments
• Criminal profiling

Prerequisite: CJ 201 or PSYC 101.

This is an online, asynchronous course offered through the Canvas Learning Management System.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Design and provide instructional materials including video and assignments for all sessions utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning. Live sessions are encouraged but not required.
• Provide a syllabus and course outline to students that clearly communicates course learning outcomes.
• Align some course assignments with departmental and college core curriculum goals and provide student work samples for college assessment purposes (sample assignments available).
• Maintain office hours each week and timely communications with students via email and phone (within 24 hours).
• Keep accurate records of student progress (grades) and complete mid-semester and final grade reports.
• Provide meaningful, qualitative, and timely feedback to students on a regular basis.

Qualifications

• A master's degree (doctoral degree preferred) in Forensic Psychology or a related field.
• A willingness to incorporate the college’s Connected Learning Philosophy into the course.
• Career-relevant experience as well as online teaching experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems.
