Role Description

We have an opening for an experienced, innovative, strategic Academic Designer, PreK-K Literacy/Multilingual Learners (MLL). Academic Designers are content and curriculum experts. They assemble high-quality content based on specific product requirements for programs and understanding the solution design. They collaborate with the Academic Design team as well as Product Managers to help develop the solution design (both conceptualization and implementation).

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. This is a Project Status Worker (PSW) role with an end date of 12/31/2027.

What you will be doing:

• Plan and develop instructional content for teacher and student materials, including learning objectives, scope and sequence, tables of contents, lessons, videos, teacher resources, and print, digital, and multimedia projects.
• Edit student- and teacher-facing content to ensure appropriate scaffolding and linguistic accessibility for multilingual learners across varying levels of English language proficiency.
• Assist in developing prototypes, exemplars, guidelines, project proposals, and project scope documentation, while serving as the primary point of contact between vendors, internal engineering teams, and Academic Design teams.
• Apply a strong understanding of PreK–Kindergarten Reading/Language Arts and English Language Development pedagogy to produce accurate, error-free, high-quality curriculum aligned with CCSS, state standards, project scope, market requirements, appropriate reading levels, grammar, and style.
• Provide constructive feedback to colleagues and vendors, identify and mitigate project risks, solve assignment-related challenges, and recommend process improvements.
• Stay current on emerging educational and curriculum trends, educational technology, and literacy research to inform content development and instructional design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, literacy, linguistics, or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience in literacy curriculum development and educational publishing focused on PreK-K literacy and English Language Development; teaching experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of literacy content development practices, ELA and ELD standards (including WIDA, ELPA21, California ELD, and Texas ELPS), and current academic and pedagogical trends, with the ability to drive innovation in teams and products.
• Highly organized, goal-oriented, collaborative, and committed to accuracy, quality, attention to detail, and on-time project delivery, while demonstrating initiative, integrity, and professionalism.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a strong command of English language, grammar, spelling, writing, and editing.
• Proven organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain productive and efficient work habits.
• Knowledge of digital learning, including authoring systems, accessibility, and testing, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet, and K4/InCopy markup.

Benefits

• The pay range for this position is between $54,500-$58,000 annually. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
