Role Description

The Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for maintaining a reliable, secure, and efficient data communications network. This position also deploys, configures, maintains, and monitors all active equipment, both virtual and physical, to ensure smooth operations. This includes overseeing all servers and supporting all IT systems including but not limited to Citrix, Azure, Active Directory, Office 365, and any management tools the IT team or business units use.

Essential Functions and Tasks

• Azure Infrastructure Management
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure including virtual machines, storage, networking, and monitoring services.
  • Support hybrid infrastructure environments integrating on-premise systems with Azure services.
  • Implement monitoring, reliability improvements, and performance optimization for Azure workloads.
• Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
  • Manage session hosts, FSLogix profiles, and user session performance.
  • Troubleshoot AVD connectivity, authentication, and performance issues.
• Automation & Scripting
  • Develop advanced automation scripts and tools using PowerShell, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, system configuration, patching, and operational tasks.
  • Develop modular automation frameworks and reusable scripting libraries.
  • Implement automation for monitoring, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Build scripts that interact with Azure services, infrastructure APIs, and enterprise applications.
• System Integration
  • Design and implement API-based integrations between infrastructure platforms and enterprise applications.
  • Develop automation workflows integrating infrastructure systems with third-party platforms, workflow engines, monitoring systems, and internal applications.
  • Build custom connectors and automation scripts to exchange data between enterprise systems.
  • Support integrations with enterprise tools including workflow platforms, ticketing systems, and operational platforms.
• Infrastructure & Platform Operations
  • Support enterprise systems including Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and hybrid infrastructure services.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and respond to incidents.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaboration
  • Work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to enhance automation and integration capabilities.
  • Provide Tier-3 technical support for infrastructure issues.
  • Assist in planning infrastructure improvements and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience in related field preferred
• At least seven (7) years of experience working in information technology field as a systems admin or engineer
• Experience with virtualization, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Exchange 2010 or higher email administration, and Active Directory administration
• Experience with Network Services (DNS, DHCP, etc.)
• Experience managing medium to large networks
• Experience with PowerShell scripting is preferred
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Core Technical Skills
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.
  • Experience managing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
  • Strong scripting expertise in PowerShell, Python, and JavaScript.
• Automation & Integration
  • Experience building automation frameworks and infrastructure scripts.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, and system integrations.
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications and infrastructure systems.
• Infrastructure Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server environments, hybrid infrastructure, networking fundamentals, and infrastructure monitoring tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-305.
• Experience working in large enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Experience with API integrations and enterprise automation frameworks.
• Experience developing enterprise automation tools or internal utilities for infrastructure management.

Candidate Expectation

• Candidates should be able to demonstrate automation scripts, integration workflows, or infrastructure automation tools developed using PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript.

Compensation

Base Compensation will be based on various factors unique to each candidate including geographic location, skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. This position is also eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus in accordance with company policies.
