This role is highly specialized, combining deep AWS architecture expertise with advanced governance and integration of Tivoli/IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS/IWS) to support large-scale, cross-platform workload automation, ensuring system stability, scalability, and disaster recovery readiness.

The ideal candidate will serve as both a hands-on technical authority and a mentor, driving modernization initiatives while ensuring stability, security, and performance across multi-region AWS environments. This candidate will define standards, governance policies, and best practices while leading major platform upgrades, migrations, implementations, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to the rest of the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or platform engineering roles. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on AWS experience, including leadership of complex enterprise initiatives.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • All candidates supporting the CMS programs must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior in order to be considered.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.

Requirements

  • Lead the design and implementation of highly available, enterprise-grade AWS environments utilizing EC2, EKS, RDS, and VPC architectures.
  • Establish architectural patterns optimized for large-scale workload scheduling and automation.
  • Direct the migration of TWS components from on-premises platforms (including AIX and Mainframe environments) to AWS-native solutions.
  • Drive containerized deployments using Amazon EKS and modern orchestration techniques.
  • Define and enforce global standards for job scheduling, workload streams, dependencies, and disaster recovery.
  • Design multi-region resilience strategies to support mission-critical batch and real-time workloads.
  • Act as the final escalation point for critical production incidents involving AWS infrastructure and complex TWS scheduling issues.
  • Lead root-cause analysis efforts and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines using Terraform and/or Ansible.
  • Automate deployment and lifecycle management of AWS infrastructure and TWS agents.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level administrators and engineers.
  • Conduct code reviews, architecture reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure technical excellence.
  • Deploy and manage TWS components (MDM, DWC) within Amazon EKS using Helm charts.
  • Configure high-availability architectures, including Backup Master Domain Managers across separate AWS Availability Zones.
  • Utilize Dynamic Workload Broker to dynamically provision AWS compute resources, including Spot Instances, based on job requirements.
  • Orchestrate AWS services (Lambda, Glue ETL jobs) using TWS Shadow Jobs or native AWS connectors.
  • Integrate TWS user access with AWS IAM roles to enable secure access to AWS services such as S3 and RDS.
  • Implement and maintain SSL/TLS authentication between on-premises masters and cloud-based agents.
  • Integrate TWS logs with Amazon CloudWatch or ELK stacks to enable advanced observability and operational dashboards.
  • Tune TWS calendars, critical path monitoring, and workload priorities to meet stringent AWS-based SLAs.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $131,300.00 - $237,350.00.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional development and certifications.
