[Hiring] Staff DevOps Engineer @Ad Hoc

Role Description

The Staff DevOps Engineer serves as an emerging subject matter expert and individual contributor, exhibiting a high level of trust, autonomy, and empowerment. Responsibilities include:

• Leading and monitoring the ability to meet scope, schedule, and delivery requirements.
• Representing the software engineering practice in planning sessions and advocating for the best technical solutions.
• Communicating tradeoffs effectively with stakeholders.
• Designing, building, and operating a scalable, secure Cloud platform and its services.
• Automating infrastructure provisioning via IaC and integrating pipelines.
• Writing and maintaining Terraform modules to manage cloud landing zones.
• Developing reusable CI/CD pipeline templates for microservices and API services.
• Configuring and monitoring platform observability.
• Building libraries, modules, and packages for integration with other projects.
• Improving the broader developer experience for engineers.
• Integrating tools to satisfy non-functional requirements such as quality thresholds and security vulnerabilities.
• Building specific application test and deployment pipelines using automated tooling.
• Collaborating across teams to consolidate and simplify DevSecOps tools and services.
• Improving technical decision-making of clients through relationship-building.
• Presenting on technical topics effectively to inform business decisions.
• Guiding the development and operation of the full lifecycle of the solution infrastructure.
• Ensuring robust defense-in-depth through security best practices.
• Planning and executing migrations to cloud-native data services.
• Participating in conversations and planning sessions with partners and key stakeholders.
• Traveling periodically to work with and present to clients, partners, and stakeholders.
• Communicating effectively on existing systems and design decisions.
• Participating in technical depth interviews with new candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of experience.
• Expert-level knowledge in multiple infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Expert-level knowledge in at least one infrastructure-as-code tool (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Expertise in key DevSecOps concepts: installing software, virtualization, containerization, networking, etc.
• Mastery of key DevOps concepts: installing software, virtualization, containerization, networking, etc.

Requirements

• Active, IRS-adjudicated Public Trust (preferred).
• Expertise in cloud-native architecture, container orchestration (Kubernetes, AKS/EKS/GKE), hybrid connectivity, and disaster recovery configuration.
• Strong analytical skills for performance optimization and FinOps reporting.
