Role Description
We’re looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and reliability tooling behind our exchange and trading platform. You’ll build and run the cloud foundation that keeps a low-latency, regulated, always-on market available, and make it faster and safer for engineers to ship. You’ll work closely with backend, security, and compliance partners, and you’ll have real ownership from day one.
-
Design, build, and operate our AWS infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent) across production, staging, and development environments.
-
Run and scale our Kubernetes platform, including cluster upgrades, autoscaling, networking, and cost management.
-
Own CI/CD end to end: fast, reliable build, test, and deploy pipelines with safe rollout strategies (canary, blue/green) and quick rollback.
-
Build observability for the exchange: metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and actionable alerting tied to SLOs for latency and availability.
-
Operate and tune supporting infrastructure for our event-driven systems, including Kafka, databases, caches, and WebSocket edge services.
-
Participate in on-call, lead incident response, and run blameless postmortems that lead to durable fixes.
-
Partner with security and compliance on access controls, secrets management, audit logging, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery that meet CFTC-regulated expectations.
-
Plan capacity and performance testing ahead of high-volume sports events, and automate away toil.
-
Document runbooks and share knowledge so the whole engineering team can operate with confidence.
Qualifications
-
10+ years of DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering experience running production systems at scale.
-
Deep hands-on expertise with AWS (or equivalent), including networking, IAM, compute, and managed data services.
-
Strong Kubernetes and Docker experience in production, including cluster operations and troubleshooting.
-
Infrastructure as code (Terraform strongly preferred) and configuration management, with GitOps-style workflows.
-
Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines at scale (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar).
-
Strong observability skills: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or comparable tooling, plus SLO-driven alerting.
-
Solid scripting or programming ability in Go or Python (Go preferred) and comfort with Linux and networking fundamentals.
-
Experience operating Kafka, SQL and NoSQL databases, and low-latency, real-time services in production.
-
Experience with incident management, on-call, and blameless postmortems.
-
Working knowledge of security best practices: secrets management, least-privilege access, vulnerability scanning, and audit logging.
-
Experience in trading, exchange, fintech, or other high-throughput regulated systems is strongly preferred.
-
Strong communicator who can explain complex tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
-
Proactive, growth-focused, and highly adaptable with a strong sense of ownership.
Requirements
-
Experience in prediction markets, sports betting, or regulated exchanges (CFTC or similar) is nice to have.
-
Familiarity with risk, fraud, KYC/AML, or settlement systems.
-
Experience scaling a team through hiring and growth in a startup environment.
Benefits
-
Competitive compensation aligned to role and market.
-
Equity opportunities so you share in what we’re building.
-
A clear connection between impact and reward.
-
Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
-
Flexible time off built on trust and accountability.
-
A culture that respects your time and avoids unnecessary meetings.
-
Fully remote within the U.S.
-
Flexibility to work in the way that helps you do your best work.
