Role Description

This is a remote position. We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Azure, AKS, and cloud-native observability to help design, operate, and optimise a secure and scalable platform used across business-critical workloads. This role is hands-on and highly technical, focused on building reliable Kubernetes-based services, strengthening observability, and automating infrastructure using modern DevOps practices.

As part of the Platform Engineering team, you will contribute to the evolution of our Azure-centric environment, improving resiliency, performance, and developer experience across the organisation.

• Operate and enhance Azure-based infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
• Manage and optimize AKS clusters including workload deployment, troubleshooting, scaling, and RBAC/OIDC configuration.
• Build, maintain and improve Helm charts and Kubernetes operational tooling.
• Implement and manage the Grafana observability stack (Grafana, Mimir, Loki, Tempo) for metrics, logs and tracing.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, enabling consistent, automated provisioning.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and enforce standards.
• Collaborate with development teams to embed best DevOps and cloud-native practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Cloud Engineer.
• Deep hands-on experience with Azure, including networking, identity, managed services, and Landing Zone patterns.
• Strong Kubernetes expertise: AKS operations, Helm, GitOps, troubleshooting production workloads.
• Solid understanding of Grafana stack (Grafana, Mimir, Loki, Tempo) and observability best practices.
• Experience with IaC (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native automation.
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash or PowerShell).
• Experience supporting distributed systems and modern application architectures.

Requirements

• Experience with OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
• Familiarity with policy-as-code (OPA/Gatekeeper, Conftest).
• Knowledge of cloud security principles and zero-trust patterns.
• Hands-on experience with cost optimisation at scale.
