Role Description
You will join OAG's Platform Engineering team to help build, deploy and support services across our multi-cloud (AWS and Azure) environment, using automation and modern DevOps practices to keep systems reliable, secure and fast. The role exists to improve service delivery, support customer-facing applications, and bring Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices into day-to-day operations. This is a remote role, open to candidates located anywhere in the UK.
What Youβll Be Doing
-
Work as part of the Platform Engineering team to deploy and operate services across our multi-cloud (AWS and Azure) environment.
-
Deploy and manage applications using our GitOps-driven CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, ArgoCD or Flux), and automate infrastructure and support processes with tools such as Terraform/OpenTofu.
-
Build, support and optimise production environments running on Kubernetes, rapidly learning existing systems to help maintain high availability.
-
Apply SRE and IaC practices day to day, collaborating with developers and other technical teams to improve observability, reliability and efficiency (e.g. OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus).
-
Help enforce zero-trust security and policy-as-code guardrails across the platform (e.g. Kyverno, OPA/Conftest, Cilium).
-
Support the platform's identity, audit and policy model as it extends to business-process and agent-driven automation and to managed data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, n8n, and MCP-connected AI agents).
-
Participate in rostered on-call support and troubleshooting, ensuring timely incident response and system recovery.
-
Use AI tooling to help accelerate day-to-day delivery and support work.
Qualifications
-
Experience implementing CI/CD and version-control practices using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
-
Practical knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud, networking, containers and Kubernetes.
-
Practical knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform/OpenTofu, Crossplane).
-
Practical knowledge of at least one modern, vendor-neutral observability tool (e.g. OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus).
-
Security-minded, with some exposure to policy-as-code and zero-trust tooling (e.g. OPA/Conftest, Kyverno, Cilium, SPIFFE/SPIRE) or similar.
-
Comfortable scripting in Python, Bash, or similar.
-
Curiosity about applying AI tooling (e.g. AI coding assistants, AI-assisted testing or AI-assisted incident response) to speed up delivery and support.
-
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a strong sense of ownership and a quality-first mindset.
-
Clear communicator and effective team player.
Benefits
-
Proactively explore and adopt AI tools and automation in your day-to-day work, keeping the customer at the centre of everything you do.
-
Real responsibility on hard problems, with the autonomy to own decisions and act on them, in an open culture built on trust.
-
Flexible working arrangements that allow remote work or office attendance.
-
An attractive compensation and benefits package, including private health insurance, a company bonus scheme and enhanced pension scheme.
-
25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and a day off during your birthday month. Plus the option to purchase up to an additional 10 days leave.
-
Octopus EV salary sacrifice scheme.
-
Work remotely anywhere in the world for up to 1 month per year.
