[Hiring] Senior Application Operations Engineer @HexaIO

Role Description

At HexaIO we are looking for a Senior Application Operations Engineer with solid, hands-on experience in running and supporting mission-critical, high-availability application and database systems for one of our enterprise clients. This role combines classic application and database operations with modern cloud and container-based platforms, so hands-on AWS and OpenShift experience alongside traditional Oracle and Linux administration is a strong advantage.

As an Application Operations Engineer, you will:

• Handle day-to-day operational tasks and manage incident tickets for production applications.
• Monitor system health and respond to alerts raised by automated monitoring tools.
• Investigate incidents and contribute to root cause analysis of recurring issues.
• Execute deployments, releases, and installations across production and non-production environments.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational documentation.
• Ensure system availability and performance in line with agreed SLAs, and coordinate with related teams.
• Manage encryption keys and certificates, and support disaster recovery (DRP) preparation and audit activities.
• Support occasional night and weekend work for changes, patching, and updates outside business hours.

Qualifications

• High school or university education in a relevant technical field.
• High-level SQL knowledge with hands-on Oracle database experience.
• Proven experience operating and supporting systems in an AWS environment.
• DevOps mindset with hands-on OpenShift experience.
• Experience operating high-availability, mission-critical application systems.
• Independent, analytical problem-solving approach with a proactive, customer-focused attitude.
• Fluent English.
• Hands-on familiarity with as many of the following as possible:
• General Linux/Unix administration, standard command-line usage.
• Basic Windows Server administration.
• General application server operations.
• Log analysis and production troubleshooting.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, RPG, Perl, or PowerShell.
• General knowledge of encryption, key, and certificate management.
• Coordination with third-party service providers.

Requirements

• Experience in the financial services sector.
• Knowledge of Ansible, Zabbix, Kibana, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with VMware environments and solutions.
• WebLogic application server experience.
• Basic knowledge of ITIL practices.
