[Hiring] IT Operations Engineer @Trail of Bits

Role Description

Trail of Bits seeks an IT Operations Engineer to own and evolve our internal IT infrastructure, security compliance, and employee technology experience.

• Workforce consists of security researchers and engineers.
• Implement expertise from technical team to build automation and tooling.
• Assess existing IT infrastructure and strengthen foundations.
• Understand the environment end-to-end, auditing deployed vs. documented systems.
• Build automation and self-service tooling for operations.
• Write production-quality code and automate repetitive tasks.
• Responsible for endpoint management, SaaS administration, security compliance, and cloud infrastructure.
• Proactively own and solve problems, working autonomously.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in IT Operations, DevOps, or Systems Administration.
• Strong background in endpoint management using MDM systems or open-source tools.
• Previous experience as the primary or solo IT person at a company.
• Experience inheriting and improving existing infrastructure.
• Strong programming skills in Python and Bash.
• Expert-level macOS administration experience.
• Experience managing Windows and Linux devices.
• Experience with authentication and access control protocols.
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• SOC 2 compliance knowledge required.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Requirements

• Test, deploy, and maintain MDM solutions (Jamf Pro) and endpoint security tools (CrowdStrike Falcon, iVerify).
• Maintain strict parity between the configuration repository and deployed fleet.
• Manage Apple Business Manager and automated onboarding/offboarding workflows.
• Manage identity and access across the SaaS ecosystem.
• Maintain SOC 2 compliance posture and manage compliance automation platforms.
• Monitor for and respond to supply chain threats.
• Document every configuration, script, and policy change in GitHub.
• Provide technical support and guidance to employees in a remote-first environment.
