[Hiring] IT Operations Engineer @Ververica GmbH

Role Description

As an IT Operations Engineer (m/f/d) at Ververica, you will be at the center of how our people work every day. You’ll own the systems, tools, and workflows that power our internal operations - from Google Workspace to Slack to Atlassian and beyond.

Your mission is simple: enable every employee to work securely, efficiently, and confidently, by delivering exceptional support, running reliable systems, building smart automations, and partnering closely with IT Security to uphold our Zero Trust posture.

You will become the go-to expert for our collaboration tools, our identity lifecycle, our asset management, and the operational backbone that keeps the company running smoothly. When someone says, “IT saved my day,” they’re talking about you.

• Owned or heavily contributed to IT Operations in a SaaS-first, cloud-native environment.
• Cared deeply about internal users, enjoying helping people solve real problems — not just closing tickets.
• Natural understanding of Zero Trust, MDM, and secure-by-default thinking.
• Proficient in Google Workspace, understanding policies, groups, permissions, and optimization.
• Expert in Slack: workspace configuration, permission models, app governance, automations, and troubleshooting.
• Administered Jira and Confluence with opinions about workflows, permissions, and structure.
• Excited about automation — whether through Zapier or a scripting language (Python/Bash).
• Communicated clearly and patiently, especially with non-technical colleagues.
• Thought in terms of outcomes, not tasks: better processes, better security, better employee experience.
• Thrived in environments where you’re trusted to figure things out, improve systems, and bring forward new ideas.

Qualifications

• Experience building or refining internal IT processes from scratch (bonus points)
• Hands-on experience with device fleet management and compliance (bonus points)
• Familiarity with SOC2 / ISO 27001 environments (bonus points)
• Experience using automation to eliminate repetitive IT workload (bonus points)
• Experience designing or maintaining knowledge bases for end users (bonus points)
• Able to jump into our Munich office for on-site support when needed (bonus points)
• Overlap with EMEA & US working hours for easier cross-timezone collaboration (bonus points)
