Role Description

Trella is looking for its next DevOps Engineer to help us manage and improve our AWS cloud infrastructure as we continue to scale. This person will support CI/CD pipeline maturity and contribute to the reliability, security, and observability of Trella’s production systems. This role works across containerized workloads on ECS and EKS/Kubernetes, Terraform-managed infrastructure, TeamCity build pipelines, and monitoring systems including New Relic, Grafana, and CloudWatch.

Responsibilities

  • CI/CD & Release Engineering:
    • Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, repeatable build and deployment processes across multiple application stacks.
    • Drive pipeline maturity by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, reducing build times, and improving deployment frequency and reliability.
  • Cloud Infrastructure & IaC (AWS & Terraform):
    • Manage and evolve Trella's AWS cloud infrastructure across services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
    • Support multi-region architecture considerations and contribute to redundancy and availability improvements.
  • Containers & Orchestration:
    • Operate and support containerized workloads running on Amazon ECS and EKS/Kubernetes.
    • Build and maintain Docker images, manage container registries, and ensure images meet security and performance standards.
    • Assist development and data engineering teams with containerizing applications and migrating workloads from server-based to container-based deployments.
  • Monitoring, Observability & Incident Response:
    • Maintain and improve observability tooling across New Relic, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch, including dashboards, alerts, and log aggregation.
    • Proactively identify gaps in observability coverage and implement instrumentation improvements in partnership with engineering teams.
    • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, helping to diagnose, remediate, and document production incidents.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Support Trella's HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance posture by maintaining secure configurations, access controls, audit logging, and evidence collection.
    • Partner with the information security team on vulnerability management, patch cycles, and security tooling.
    • Enforce security best practices across infrastructure provisioning, secrets management, and network segmentation.
    • Respond to security findings and remediate risks identified through audits, penetration testing, or automated scanning tools.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in IT operations, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Demonstrated programming or scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Working understanding of IP networking, DNS, VPN, and firewall management.
  • Familiarity with cloud provider offerings, specifically AWS core services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch).
  • Good understanding of relational database administration (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or similar).
  • Experience with Linux system administration and command-line tooling.
  • Basic understanding of containerization concepts (Docker, container images, registries).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git/Bitbucket).

Nice to Have

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or SysOps Administrator).
  • Experience with Snowflake data warehouse administration or data pipeline support.
  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow (MWAA) for workflow orchestration.
  • Experience with React, .NET, Node.js, Angular, or PHP/Laravel application stacks.
  • Exposure to data pipeline and ETL automation workflows.
  • Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for transformation workflows.
  • Experience conducting disaster recovery planning and DR drills.
  • Knowledge of multi-region AWS architecture and failover strategies.
  • Ability to work in a less-structured environment where initiative, dedication, and flexibility are highly valued.

Benefits

  • Health, Dental, Vision & Voluntary Benefits.
  • Competitive Salary & Bonus Plans.
  • 401k Retirement Savings.
  • Flexible PTO & 10 Paid Holidays.
  • Flexible Work Hours.
  • Equity Shares.
  • Paid Leave Programs.
  • Marketplace for discounted retail and entertainment.
