Role Description

Mutual of Omaha is seeking an articulate, collaborative Cloud Platform Engineer to help advance our cloud infrastructure. In this role, you’ll design, build, and scale secure, reliable cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code and modern orchestration tools. Working at the intersection of cloud engineering, application development, and DevOps, you'll partner with teams across the organization to streamline delivery and bring our cloud vision to life.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on development experience using an object-oriented language (TypeScript preferred)
• Two or more of the following competencies:
  • Infrastructure as Code (Preferred: AWS CDK, Cloud Formation)
  • Containerization with Docker (Preferred: Kubernetes, Elastic Container Service (ECS), Fargate)
  • Databases (Preferred: Postgres, RDS Aurora, MongoDB)
  • Message/Data Streaming (Preferred: AWS MSK, Kafka)
  • GitHub, GitHub Actions, Git for version control
• Experience with distributed cloud platform configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management automation tools.
• Understanding of security and compliance for a cloud environment.
• Experience building/managing cloud services by automating/orchestrating complex processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) within a single cloud environment.
• Strong interpersonal communication with both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Prior experience with cloud governance or enablement initiatives.
• Proficiency in Software Engineering and best practices.

Benefits

• Estimated Salary: Engineer II: $115,000 - $135,000, plus annual bonus opportunity
• Engineer III: $130,000 - $150,000, plus annual bonus opportunity
• 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
