Role Description
The CI/CD Pipeline Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines that support enterprise application development and deployment. This role automates software build, testing, security scanning, artifact management, and deployment processes to improve release efficiency, software quality, system reliability, and security compliance.
The engineer works closely with application developers, cloud engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and program leadership to implement automated DevSecOps practices across development, test, staging, and production environments. The position supports cloud-native applications, Java microservices, containerized workloads, and enterprise integration platforms while ensuring compliance with applicable security and configuration management requirements.
Key Responsibilities

CI/CD Pipeline Development and Automation
-
Design, develop, configure, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for enterprise applications and microservices, automated testing jobs, infrastructure builds, etc.
-
Implement and optimize build, unit testing, integration testing, code quality analysis, artifact publishing, and deployment workflows.
-
Develop reusable pipeline templates, shared libraries, deployment scripts, and automation components to standardize delivery processes.
-
Troubleshoot pipeline failures, build errors, deployment issues, and configuration inconsistencies.
-
DevSecOps and Security Integration
-
Integrate automated security testing, static application security testing (SAST), software composition analysis (SCA), container image scanning, and vulnerability assessments into CI/CD pipelines.
-
Enforce security gates, code quality thresholds, and approval requirements before software is promoted between environments.
-
Support remediation of security vulnerabilities, software dependencies, and container image findings.
-
Maintain pipeline configurations and deployment processes consistent with organizational security policies and applicable NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
-
Support audit readiness through pipeline logs, deployment records, traceability, and documented release approvals.
-
Cloud, Containers, and Infrastructure Automation
-
Support containerized application deployments using Docker and Kubernetes, including Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
-
Integrate pipelines with cloud services, infrastructure automation, container registries, and environment configuration management.
-
Implement automated deployment strategies, including rolling deployments, blue-green deployments, and rollback procedures, as appropriate.
-
Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to resolve environment, networking, access, and deployment issues.
-
Configuration Management and Release Support
-
Manage source control workflows, branching strategies, versioning, artifact repositories, and release tagging.
-
Implement environment promotion controls across development, test, staging, and production.
-
Maintain pipeline documentation, operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, and technical standards.
-
Monitor pipeline performance and identify opportunities to reduce deployment time, improve reliability, and increase automation.
-
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
-
Work with cybersecurity, quality assurance, architecture, and operations teams to resolve delivery and compliance issues.
-
Provide technical guidance to developers on pipeline usage, deployment standards, and DevSecOps best practices.
-
Identify opportunities to improve software delivery performance, pipeline reuse, operational consistency, and release quality.
Qualifications
-
