[Hiring] Azure DevOps Lead Engineer @IREN

Role Description

The Azure DevOps Lead Engineer will own the technical direction, standards and delivery of IREN's Azure platform and DevOps practice. This is a hands-on technical leadership role:

• Set the architecture and governance model for our Azure estate.
• Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers.
• Act as the escalation point for platform design and delivery decisions across the enterprise and data center business.
• Partner with Cybersecurity, Compliance and Business Systems leaders to ensure the platform is secure by design, audit-ready and cost-efficient.

IREN's IT function supports a NASDAQ-listed, multi-country business spanning Bitcoin mining and AI/HPC data center operations, with a Microsoft-centric enterprise stack (Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Sentinel/Defender) and SOX and ISO 27001 compliance obligations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in DevOps, platform or cloud engineering, with at least 4 years designing and operating Microsoft Azure environments at enterprise scale.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers and owning technical delivery for a team.
• Expert-level infrastructure as code (Bicep and/or Terraform / OpenTofu) and CI/CD design in Azure DevOps and/or GitHub / GitLab Actions, including reusable module and pipeline libraries.
• Deep knowledge of Entra ID, Azure networking, Azure Policy/Management Groups, Landing Zones and Azure security services (Defender for Cloud, Key Vault / OpenBAO, Sentinel).
• Strong scripting and automation skills in PowerShell and Python, including Microsoft Graph and Azure REST APIs.
• Proven experience operating platforms in regulated environments and producing audit evidence for SOX, ISO 27001 or equivalent frameworks.
• Experience with observability (Azure Monitor, KQL), SRE practices, and security policy governance and administration.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain architecture and risk to both engineers and executives across time zones.
• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-400, AZ-305 or AZ-500 are highly regarded; Terraform Associate is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
