Role Description

An Automation Engineer III is responsible for designing, developing, and standardizing infrastructure automation solutions with a strong focus on VMware-based environments. This role will drive automation maturity by building reusable, scalable automation assets using Ansible and Python, enabling faster and reliable infrastructure provisioning and operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or regional equivalent required
• Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a field related to the role. At the manager’s discretion, additional relevant experience may substitute degree requirement

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and standardize automation frameworks and reusable assets using Ansible & Python
• Build automation solutions for VMware infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management
• Define best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management
• Automate deployment, remediation, and operational tasks across infrastructure environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (cloud, network, storage) to deliver end-to-end automation solutions

Core Technical Skills (Must Have)

• Strong experience with Ansible (playbooks, roles, collections, AWX/Automation Controller)
• Proficiency in Python scripting and automation development
• Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
• Experience with Linux/Unix system administration
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, coding agents) to improve productivity and code quality

Good to Have Skills

• Exposure to Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
• Hands-on experience with VMware ecosystem: VMware-based infrastructure provisioning & lifecycle management
