Role Description

We are hiring a full-time contractor YouTube Content Editor to join our editing team. You will edit long-form videos ranging from ten to forty minutes, with a target output of three videos per week. Your focus is on creative execution, not distribution or client management. You will report to an assigned account manager and collaborate with other editors to maintain quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and format YouTube content from raw footage, ensuring broadcast-quality output.
• Create 2D animations including callouts, custom animation designs, text animations, colour grading, lower thirds, and transitions, all within the contextual design language of each video.
• Manage Shorts formatting and editing as required.
• Learn and apply AM Visuals brand guidelines and client brand guidelines before beginning each project.
• Understand project briefs deeply, ask proactive questions, and think critically about editorial decisions.
• Work within the 10AM to 6PM Sydney timezone overlap.
• Familiarise yourself with our tools and workflows, including ClickUp and Google Drive systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in video editing and post-production.
• A strong portfolio or body of work demonstrating YouTube content editing, motion graphics, and 2D animation.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and CapCut.
• Strong understanding of design tools and basic motion graphics principles.
• Contextual understanding of English, including Australian English nuances, slang, and cultural references.
• Ability to listen to scripts and dialogue and extract narrative intent, tone, and audience relevance.
• Proactive mindset, ability to work independently and think critically about editorial choices.
• Comfort integrating AI tools such as Claude into your editing workflow.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other editors and receive feedback asynchronously.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with YouTube analytics and audience retention metrics.
• Prior experience editing content for Australian audiences.
• Familiarity with cultural nuances specific to Australia.
