Role Description
The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a Senior Visual Designer who is passionate about the power of brand, design, and technology to change the world. You will be our brand Design ambassador, responsible for building an iconic memorable brand that pushes for real impact within the Wikimedia movement and for the world.
- Report to the Creative Director and oversee and lead projects from start to finish
- Manage project timelines and stakeholder management
- Work with the Senior Brand Manager to develop and maintain visual identity systems
- Push for exceptional design and brand consistency
- Design across various touchpoints, from small projects to large-scale global products and campaigns
- Oversee and manage design vendors on a range of projects
- Express the essence of Wikipedia/Wikimedia
Responsibilities
- Maintain exceptional design standards and brand stewardship
- Design with the highest craft standards and attention to detail
- Oversee creative projects from start to finish
- Use design thinking to solve complex problems
- Inspire better creative, design, and branding
- Safeguard and develop brand guidelines
- Maintain a library of brand assets and materials
- Create a collaborative environment
- Manage and art direct external design partners
- Coach and educate colleagues, volunteers, and partners on brand materials
- Reflect the Wikimedia Foundation’s values
- Showcase a positive attitude and communicate clearly and with empathy
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience
- Deep understanding of the fundamentals of design
- Attention to detail and craft
- Ability to manage project timelines
- Confident in managing external design partners
- Collaborative individual with the ability to work in a diverse environment
- Intellectual curiosity and flexibility in tackling difficult problems
- Sense of creative experimentation and innovation
Bonus Skills
- Experience working globally and in a range of markets
- Experience working with brands that have community stakeholders
