Role Description

Lead Core, end to end.

• Lead the renter experience across web, mobile web, and native iOS and Android.
• Accountable for coherence, quality, and direction.
• Balance maintenance and invention, improving existing features while building new ones.
• Set the craft bar: visual, interaction, and systems.
• Create patterns and standards for other senior designers to calibrate against.
• Build AI-forward by prototyping in Cursor and Claude Code until functionally real.
• Wire prototypes to actual components, variables, and tokens for engineering to build from.
• Make AI a default part of the workflow and integrate new tools promptly.
• Lead through influence by presenting a grounded point of view on Core's direction.
• Identify problems through qualitative and quantitative research and experiments.
• Mentor without managing, raising the level of every designer through critique and example.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing digital products, owning ambiguous, cross-functional problems with minimal direction.
• Experience building with AI in real work, shipping working prototypes or production code with tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
• Experience shipping on both web and native mobile, with a mobile-first mindset.
• Work that has scaled beyond individual contributions, such as frameworks or pattern libraries.
• Fluency in Figma (auto layout, components, variables, systems) and visual design skills.
• Ability to act without being told, spotting problems and following through to resolution.

Requirements

• Experience with a two-sided marketplace at real scale.
• Experience partnering directly with C-suite leaders on product direction.
• A side project taken from idea to launch.

Benefits

• Compensation range based on location and experience:
• Zone 1: $184,000 - $223,000 TTC (including $162,000 - $196,000 base salary) + equity.
• Zone 2: $165,000 - $200,000 TTC (including $145,000 - $176,000 base salary) + equity.
• Compensation details do not include benefits and perks offered.
• Consideration for exceptional candidates near the higher end of the compensation range.
