Role Description
The Product Design team shapes the interfaces and experiences that developers interact with every day β from the Dashboard and Admin Portal to AuthKit and our developer documentation. We own the design system (WorkDS and Radix) and partner with product engineers to deliver consistent, intuitive, and delightful experiences across every surface.
Our designers obsess over the developer experience, spot opportunities to raise the bar, and drive initiatives end-to-end. We engage directly with customers, discover new perspectives to inform the products we build, and ship code to production. We're looking for a designer who shares a product-minded, systems-driven approach and defaults to working in the open and seeking feedback. We embrace a range of AI tools throughout our workflow, leaning on emerging technologies to improve our workflows and create product innovation.
Responsibilities
-
Lead greenfield initiatives end-to-end β research, scoping, definition, prototyping, implementation, and iteration β working directly with engineering to solve complex technical problems.
-
Improve existing products across the entire platform (WorkOS Dashboard, Admin Portal, AuthKit, and more), focusing on usability, accessibility, performance, and consistency.
-
Engage directly with customers to get feedback, uncover friction, and transform findings into scalable, reusable patterns and flows.
-
Contribute to our design system in Figma and code (WorkDS and Radix), creating, adapting, and deprecating patterns to keep the platform feeling like one product.
-
Experiment with AI tools and emerging workflows to accelerate exploration and prototyping.
-
Collaborate across product design, brand design, engineering, solutions engineering, and go-to-market to define, shape, and ship products.
Qualifications
-
7+ years designing platforms and/or complex products with information-dense interfaces. Experience with developer tools, enterprise software, or technical B2B products is preferred.
-
Demonstrated systems thinking: you know when to create a new pattern, adapt an existing one to different contexts, recognize when a pattern is needed, and know when to kill one.
-
You account for real-world complexity β edge cases, error and empty states, accessibility, and technical constraints β without letting process slow you down.
-
You can articulate why you made a design decision, not just what you made.
-
Experience running user research and translating feedback into insights that shape product direction.
-
Proficiency with Figma and a curiosity for what comes next.
-
Front-end code familiarity, you'll contribute directly to our design system and ship improvements to production.
-
You spot design gaps across the product and fix them without waiting to be asked.
