Role Description
As a Principal Product Designer at VIA, you will be embedded within our AI platform team, partnering closely with our Design Team, Product Owners, and Engineering to own end-to-end design for complex, high-stakes systems. Our products sit at the intersection of artificial intelligence, secure data exploration, and agentic workflows, built for environments where trust, precision, and data protection are non-negotiable. In this role, you will help define what we build and how it works, translating sophisticated technical architectures and real-world customer challenges into experiences that are as intuitive as they are secure. You'll take ownership from discovery through handoff, moving fluidly between strategic problem framing and high-fidelity execution.
In this role, you will:
-
Own end-to-end UX/UI design across VIA's product suite, including AI-native platforms, agentic workflow interfaces, multiplayer and collaborative data environments, and permission-controlled data sharing experiences.
-
Rapidly translate high-level workflows into low-fidelity mockups that give engineering teams something concrete to react to, reducing ambiguity and accelerating iteration.
-
Design for secure-by-default interaction patterns where data visibility, access control, and sharing are core UX constraints, not afterthoughts.
-
Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate tradeoffs between technical complexity and user value, influencing roadmap direction.
-
Lead strategic design efforts for data-driven platforms, focusing on cohesive workflows and scalable systems rather than isolated screens.
-
Partner with Engineering to explore technical constraints, align on backend logic, and support thoughtful execution of complex features.
-
Translate technical requirements and security-focused constraints into clear, high-fidelity product concepts.
-
Transition seamlessly from high-level strategy and wireframing to the execution of prototypes, component documentation, and UI copy.
-
Champion the responsible leveraging of AI as a key aspect of our human-centered design process, helping to refine our AI-first design efforts.
-
Establish and evolve design patterns and principles that support long-term consistency and scalability across our technology suite.
Qualifications
-
8+ years of product design experience, with at least 3 in complex enterprise or technical domains (AI platforms, cybersecurity, identity, or data-intensive systems).
-
Technical fluency: Comfortable working directly with engineering, reading system architecture, and designing within real constraints.
-
Agentic and collaborative workflow experience: Navigated UX problems where multiple users or multiple agents interact with shared state.
-
Strategic curiosity: Known for asking the right questions that uncover hidden technical problems or user needs in high-stakes environments.
-
Systemic thinking: Proven ability to design for complex workflows and security-focused systems where trust and precision are paramount.
-
Strong visual design sensibility: Keen aesthetic eye and ability to bring clarity and craft to complex, technical interfaces.
-
Design leadership and mentorship: Champion for design excellence, mentoring designers, refining internal processes, and elevating quality.
Requirements
-
Self-motivated and passionate about leaving everything they touch better than how they found it.
-
Firm believers that people should love what they do and are eager to build a culture that enables them to do their best work.
-
Creative problem solvers who respectfully challenge the status quo in the pursuit of excellence.
-
People who lead discussions with curiosity and value diverse perspectives.
-
Eager to explore new ideas, understand the power of feedback, and constantly seek opportunities to grow and develop their skills.
-
Strong team players who thrive in collaborative environments and celebrate the success of others.
Benefits
-
This role offers a salary range of $160,000 - $190,000 USD per year.
-
401K plan with up to 5% employer contribution.
-
A fully funded, top-tier health benefits plan, including vision and dental coverage, fully covered from day one, for your whole family.
-

-
Flexible Vacation Policy with no set annual limit or accrual period, Summer Fridays, and an extended holiday period in December.
-
Ability to enjoy the best of both worlds with flexibility to work from home as needed, as well as access to three well-located offices.
-
Individualized growth opportunities, including internal and external mentorship panels, custom goals and feedback sessions, and/or access to learning and development programs.
-
A dedicated wellness advisor to help you navigate the programs and opportunities available at VIA.
-
Benefits to support commuting costs.
-
In-person events to foster team bonding and collaboration across different teams.
