[Hiring] Lead Artist @Pocket Worlds

2mths ago - Pocket Worlds is hiring a remote Lead Artist. πŸ’Έ Salary: unspecified πŸ“Location: Worldwide

Role Description

We're looking for a creative genius. Not "great for a game studio." Not "strong for their market." Someone with a rare gift for fashion, an instinct for what people will love before they know they love it, and the craft to execute it at the highest level. The best in the world, full stop.

This is not a game art role. Highrise is a digital fashion platform, and we are on the frontier of what digital fashion can be. The work you'll make here lives alongside and competes with the best in physical fashion. Our players are style-conscious, taste-driven, and they notice everything. The bar is that high because it has to be.

You'll own drops end to end and you'll own the outcome. That means everything:

  • The initial concept and creative direction
  • The concept art
  • The final item production
  • All the promotional and merchandising art that surrounds a release

You're not handing off to the next person in the pipeline. You're seeing it through from the first sketch to the moment it lands in players' hands, and you're accountable for what happens next. Did players love it? Did it perform? Those numbers are yours. You'll work closely with our Creative Director and Producer, and you'll set the standard for the artists around you.

Drip Drop quality is not the ceiling here, it's the floor. If that excites you instead of intimidating you, keep reading. This is a high-output, high-accountability role. Weekly shipping cadence. No ramp-up period where mediocre work is acceptable. We expect exceptional from day one.

Qualifications

  • A portfolio that is genuinely world-class, strong across the full pipeline from initial concept through final assets and promo art, with a clear fashion sensibility that needs no explanation
  • A demonstrable ability to produce at Drip Drop quality level, consistently, across the full lifecycle of a drop
  • Experience owning creative work end to end, not just one stage of a pipeline
  • 5+ years of experience in fashion design, concept art, or a related creative field. Live games or fast-paced pipelines a strong plus
  • A real eye for fashion: you follow the culture, you have strong opinions, and it shows in every piece you make
  • Mastery across the full toolchain: Photoshop, Illustrator, Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, Blender, Midjourney, or whatever gets you to the best result
  • The ability to produce exceptional work fast. Speed and quality are both non-negotiable. There is no tradeoff between the two
  • A complete ownership mentality. You drive the work forward, you define the standard, and you make everyone around you sharper
  • Background in fashion design or fashion industry experience is a strong plus

Requirements

  • Own drops from start to finish: concept ideation, concept art, final item production, and the promotional and merchandising art that brings a release to life
  • Develop fashion-forward clothing, characters, and accessories with a point of view, not just technical execution
  • Deliver at Drip Drop quality across every stage of the pipeline, every week, without exception
  • Lead the creative direction for your drops. You're setting the vision, not waiting for one
  • Give sharp, actionable feedback that raises the output of the artists around you
  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Director and Producer on vision, scope, and deadlines
  • Iterate based on team feedback and player sentiment. You care how the work lands in the game and in the community, not just how it looks in isolation
  • Partner with external artists or studios when needed, maintaining creative consistency and throughput

Benefits

  • Top-of-market compensation. We pay what it takes to work with the best
  • High agency, high expectation, high reward
  • A small, high-trust team where your work directly shapes the visual culture of a platform used by millions
  • The creative freedom to do the best work of your career

Interview Process

An initial conversation followed by a single, focused take-home art assessment, designed to evaluate your skill, taste, and ability to execute on a creative brief. We do not use any submitted work in production. It is purely for evaluation.
