Role Description
Our client in the US is looking for an experienced Design Consultant to provide macro-level oversight and strategic design guidance for our growing portfolio. In this part-time advisory role (~15-20 hours/week), the consultant will not execute day-to-day design tasks directly, but will instead establish, document, and enforce brand standards—empowering our existing team of a Project Manager and Junior Design Associate to deliver consistently high-quality, on-brand spaces across all properties.
Duties & Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

Build and maintain the design infrastructure that allows the internal team to operate with consistency, speed, and quality.

Brand Standards & Design System:

Develop and document Clients' design standards, including furniture selection criteria, color palettes, material specifications, and spatial layout principles.

Create and maintain master FF&E specifications, approved vendor lists, and room-type templates for use by the internal team.

Build and update InDesign presentation templates and production documentation for the team's ongoing use.

Define quality benchmarks and approval criteria for FF&E packages prepared by the Junior Design Associate.

Establish budget guardrails and per-room spend targets to guide procurement decisions.

Periodically audit completed units and provide structured design feedback to the Project Manager and Junior Design Associate.

Team Oversight & Guidance:

Serve as the design authority and escalation point for the Project Manager and Junior Design Associate on in-progress units.

Review and approve FF&E packages, mood boards, and floor plan layouts prepared by the internal team before finalization.

Reporting & Engagement:

Reports to the Head of Real Estate; engages with the Project Manager and Junior Design Associate on a regular cadence.

Approximately 10 hours per week; flexible schedule with availability for periodic check-ins and design reviews.

Provide strategic input to leadership on design direction, vendor relationships, and portfolio-level quality improvements.
Qualifications

AAS, BA or MA in Interior Design.

M.Arch, B.Arch with substantial FF&E experience.

Minimum of +5 years of experience in all phases of contemporary, high-profile design, preferably in hospitality, workplace, co-living or co-working design.

Professional proficiency in InDesign and Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD a plus.

Excellent color sense.

Demonstrated ability to define, document, and enforce brand standard design across a team.

Comfortable operating in an advisory capacity—guiding and elevating others' work rather than executing day-to-day tasks directly.

Experience working in a fast-growth environment; comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment without well-worn paths or established protocols.
