Role Description
The Fort Lewis College Laboratory for the Humanistic Study of a More-than-Human-World is a campus-wide interdisciplinary curricular and research initiative that utilizes humanistic methods to nurture an understanding of relationships between humans, non-humans, and their environments. The Graphic Designer will create a cohesive visual identity for the project to be used across initiatives.

Initial responsibilities will focus on the development and delivery of a brand identity system, including:

Logo

Color palette
-
Typography
-
Illustrative asset library

Promotional templates

Following completion of these initial deliverables, the Graphic Designer may provide additional design services in support of Laboratory programming, communications, and grant activities as needs arise.

The Graphic Designer will be supervised by the Programming Development Coordinator and will work collaboratively with the grant team throughout the design and review process.

The successful candidate will bring a distinctive voice to their design work, strong design skills and attention to detail, and an interest in translating the Laboratory's interdisciplinary mission into an accessible and adaptable visual identity.
Qualifications

BA or MA in Graphic Design, Art, Art History, or related field.

Two or more years of experience in branding, marketing, and graphic design.

Strong command of design fundamentals, including typography, imagery, and composition, with excellent attention to detail.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as working with diverse communities.

Evidence of excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Ability and desire to contribute to the goals of the Humanities for All Times grant program.

Knowledge of accessibility principles and best practices in visual design, including readability, color contrast, and accessible digital materials.
Requirements

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, vector, and raster files.

Benefits

Hourly rate: $27.74/hr

Typical work hours: Up to 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule established in coordination with the supervisor.
