We have an immediate opening for a Consultant, Data & Business Insights Report Developer position, to join our team. This is a full-time, direct-hire position.
Description and Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Developer to join our team. This role requires strong expertise in managing, troubleshooting, and improving an application built with a front end in Microsoft Access and back end in SQL Server.
This is an opportunity to work on an enterprise-level reporting engine across a variety of teams to make immediate impact within a innovative organization.
- Senior level, with experience in writing and optimizing SQL Server queries and also experienced SQL Server database administration.
- Maintain the Microsoft SQL Server-based Generate Database, Ensure database security, reliability, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and stored procedures
- Proficiency in Active Directory-based database security and compliance standards
- Work with our client and implementation teams from concept to operations, providing deep technical subject matter expertise for successfully deploying large data solutions in the enterprise, using modern data/analytics technologies in both on premise and cloud environments.
- Proficiency in T-SQL, with the ability to understand, formulate and create efficient queries, views and stored procedures, ad-hoc requests and reports.
- Design, develop, and implement reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI in alignment to business requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including data models, data workflow diagrams and design documents.
- Collaborate with the Data Insights & Analytics team and other IT resources throughout the development lifecycle; enforcing best practices where necessary.
- Analytically come up with improved and more efficient processes for IT and business users.
- Participate in teams to deliver new BI and Analytics solutions or enhance current ones.
- Provide support for existing applications and services provided by the Data Insights & Analytics team.
- Investigate and troubleshoot problems. Collaborate with business units and team members to determine root cause and appropriate functional solutions.
- A solid understanding of security models in Power BI and the ability to implement row level restrictions.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet delivery commitments while maintaining accuracy.
- Proven analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Communications, or a technical field.
- Demonstrate experience managing stakeholders’ expectations and effectively mitigating dissatisfied stakeholders
- A senior experienced in Microsoft Access database maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Maintain the Microsoft SQL Server-based Generate Database
- Ensure database security, reliability, and performance tuning
- Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Prepare and validate data for federal ED Facts reporting
- Develop robust business rules and documentation for data processing
- Ensure compliance with Common Education Data Standards (CEDS)
- Work closely with state program sponsors and stakeholders to define data requirements
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including stored procedures and reporting workflows
- Extensive experience in Access DB for managing and manipulating data effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting database issues.
- Excellent understanding of database security and data protection policies.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to perform in-depth debugging of VBA code, SQL queries, and database components to ensure high performance and functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data integrity issues, error handling, and performance bottlenecks in Access databases.
- Use tools like Access Debugger, SQL Server Profiler, and Access’s built-in debugging tools to find and fix issues.
- Optimize database performance by designing efficient data structures, indexing strategies, and query optimization techniques.
Professional Skills:
- Prior consulting experience a plus
- Effective communication and presentation skills

- Ability to build, manage, and foster a team-oriented environment
