Role Description
This role involves working with the Research Data Manager to perform research, data analysis, and reporting related to institutional research, institutional effectiveness, workforce, and other planning projects.
- Support complex research initiatives including collecting, analyzing, and compiling data related to institution and student success.
- Prepare reports and recommendations based on findings.
- Identify appropriate data sources for assigned research projects and retrieve data using suitable tools.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of data resources and research tools.
- Select, adapt, and apply appropriate research design and statistical tools.
- Organize and present research-based information clearly in various formats.
- Carry out data collection, coding, and input functions using appropriate tools.
- Respond to research requests and report submission requirements.
- Provide technical and analytical support to teams and administration.
- Attend and represent the research team at professional conferences.
- Compile and interpret data to provide management with recommendations.
- Respond to questions from stakeholders about data interpretation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline related to the assignment, such as economics, data science, statistics, public policy, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience with higher education data including data collection, processing, validation, and analysis.
Requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Google Workplace applications or Windows applications.
- Experience accessing information stored in large data systems.
- Experience adapting or creating evaluation or research tools.
- Knowledge of research, survey, and analytical methods.
- Ability to present solutions to senior leadership.
- Ability to analyze situations accurately and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to manage tasks and workflow across institutional projects.
- Ability to conduct statistical analyses using software such as SAS, SPSS, or R.
- Ability to prepare and present technical reports.
- Demonstrate understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with human-centered design and research methods.
- Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools.
- Graduate degree(s) in research and evaluation methodology.
- Experience with data systems design including CRM and LMS.
- Familiarity with predictive analytics models.
- Knowledge of programming packages such as Python, SQL, Oracle.
Working Conditions and Travel
- Primarily remote position with the ability to use digital communication tools.
- Regular attendance is considered an essential job function.
- Considered a mandated reporter under California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
- Requires the ability to function in a remote online instructional environment.
- Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
