Role Description

Data Science Manager/Senior Manager for the attribution team within the Computational Intelligence Org. Manages a team of data scientists working in specialized product pods on risk categories.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of management experience in data science or ML teams, 9+ years overall experience.
• Must have startup or hyper-growth company experience, ideally in data-centric businesses.
• Proficient in Python and data systems; nice-to-have experience in Airflow and BigQuery.
• Looking for an 80/20 player-coach balance, requiring strong people management skills.
• Remote role, U.S. only; prioritize candidates with a strong tenure at previous companies.

Requirements

• Need for a tenured manager to handle team challenges and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
• Emphasizes the importance of domain-related problem-solving experience.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and handling complex business challenges.
• Demonstrates curiosity and ability to become a subject matter expert.
• 7+ years of experience in data science/ML, with 4+ years managing DS/ML teams.
• 4+ years directly managing data science/machine learning ICs, with prior IC experience as an MLE or data scientist.
• Worked at a startup or hypergrowth company (not big tech).
• Domain experience in fraud, fintech, or blockchain intelligence.
• Solid progression within one company.
• Master's or PhD in quantitative field (CS, Stats, Physics, Engineering).
• Full-stack data scientist profile: Python, modeling, pipelines. Not just analytics.
• Experience with large-scale data systems (BigQuery, Snowflake, Airflow).
• AI-fluent — uses AI tools to accelerate daily work.
• Must be US-based with 6+ hours overlap with Eastern time.

Traits to Avoid

• Job hoppy - less than 3 years' average tenure in each role.
• Pure people-manager who no longer reviews or writes code (max is 80/20 management vs coding split).
• Director/leader-of-leaders at mid-to-large companies (too senior); directors at seed or series A stage companies will be considered.
• Analytics-only profile (dashboards/BI) rather than full-stack DS.
