Role Description

We are looking for a senior developer specializing in data technologies and architectures to contribute to the evolution of our software solutions. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in software development, databases, and data technologies to design, experiment with, and develop concrete solutions that will help our products evolve.

• Contribute directly to the code while staying on top of emerging technologies, practices, and approaches.
• Work on how our products store, exchange, process, archive, and leverage data.
• Understand complex problems, experiment with different approaches, and get hands-on with the code.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop robust and high-performance solutions.
• Design and develop software components that make advanced use of data and storage technologies.
• Develop and optimize SQL and PL/SQL code.
• Design mechanisms for accessing, processing, and exchanging data across the different components of our products.
• Solve complex challenges related to performance, concurrency, data volume, availability, and data access.
• Participate in design and code reviews.
• Develop prototypes and proofs of concept, then contribute to their integration into our products.
• Analyze how our applications currently store, access, exchange, and leverage data, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Evolve data architectures, patterns, and data access and management mechanisms.
• Evaluate and integrate different storage technologies, including relational databases, in-memory databases, NoSQL, geospatial databases, and vector databases.
• Contribute to technical direction around performance, scalability, resilience, schema management, archiving, and observability.
• Support development teams in adopting new approaches.
• Contribute to the evolution of inter-system and inter-application integration mechanisms.
• Design and evolve data exchange mechanisms, including APIs, messaging, events, streaming, and other integration patterns.
• Contribute to technology decisions related to the data lifecycle, including data retention, archiving, and long-term accessibility.
• Participate in defining mechanisms that make data accessible to different components and platforms while maintaining consistency, performance, and governance.
• Stay current on technologies, architectures, and practices related to data.

Qualifications

• Between 5 and 15 years of experience in software development, with a specialization in databases and data technologies.
• Advanced expertise in Oracle and SQL, including strong proficiency in PL/SQL.
• Strong understanding of database performance, including execution plans, indexing, partitioning, transactions, concurrency, and optimization.
• Experience with complex transactional systems and large volumes of data.
• Ability to develop a deep understanding of the interactions between applications, services, and different data technologies.
• Experience developing in C++ or a similar programming language.
• Experience with other data technologies, such as PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, geospatial databases, or vector databases, is an asset.
• Understanding of modern integration architectures, including APIs, messaging, events, and streaming.
• Knowledge of BI, analytics, Data Lake architectures, and data platforms is an asset.
• Knowledge of data lifecycle and archiving considerations.
• Knowledge of cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure and its PaaS services, as well as automation, CI/CD, and observability, is an asset.
• Ability to stay current on emerging technologies, experiment with new approaches, and turn learnings into concrete product improvements.
