Role Description

Governance and Oversight is a First Line control group within the Three Lines of Defense model. As a first line control group, we empower CIBC’s Control Framework, which sets out the objectives for the design of the internal control environment aligned to the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS). We serve the Bank’s strategy to deliver a superior client experience through the stewardship of sustained and effective risk discipline. US TI&I Governance & Oversight enables the Bank’s strategic mandate to maintain financial strength and risk discipline while advancing our purpose-driven culture.

As a member of the US Technology, Infrastructure & Innovation Governance & Oversight (G&O), you’ll support the risk management activities for the Data Management Office (DMO) team. This will include:

• Supporting the business in the identification of controls
• Participating in risk assessments
• Leading remediation of deficiencies
• Writing of procedures
• Monitoring business processes
• Reporting on business risk outcomes

This role will liaise with the second and third lines of defense on new/changes to risk programs, gathering evidence and support during exams, and providing subject matter expertise over the DMO processes executed by the teams. You will exercise independent judgement within defined procedures and provide recommendations for best practices through experiences and observation, for use by other team members as part of knowledge sharing and to ensure consistency in approach. In addition, you will solve business, operations and technical problems within the scope of your role, escalating unusual cases outside of documented procedures to management.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Banking experience, specializing in data management and overall risk management
• Well-developed project management and strategic business-planning skills
• Experience in interpreting policies and procedures
• Working knowledge of potential risks associated with Data Management such as AI, Data Governance, or Data Analytics

• Conduct analysis of processes and functional requirements
• Work closely with line of business (LOB) partners to identify risk exposures and control gaps
• Understand and communicate requirements related to data management, inclusive of AI and data governance
• Lead the completion of CIBC Control Framework requirements
