Role Description

The Senior Analytic Engineer role is a combination of data architect, developer, and analyst, tasked to design and build big data solutions. Their skillset must span software development, business analysis, and complex system design.

  • Regular and efficient communication with clients, external or internal to the company.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering and business units when needed.
  • Build and maintain the company's cutting-edge analytic capabilities.
  • Responsible for high-level systems analysis and preparing technical presentations for major design reviews.
  • Interface with other sites to coordinate analytical work packages as needed.
  • Verify and validate analytical results through comparison to empirical data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis to support product development of both systems and components.
  • Work independently on significant project components with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct analysis substantiating designs and iterate with engineering staff to optimize designs.
  • Recommend technical decisions on engineering approaches to new or modified products.
  • Review and analyze data, recommending design changes as necessary.
  • Communicate analytical results with engineering staff, management, and customers through reports and presentations.
  • Responsible for data engineering tool development and standardization.
  • Perform other incidentals and related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in healthcare data sets, reimbursement, and/or payment integrity.
  • Possesses a strong analytical aptitude.
  • Ability to build complex algorithms and database queries.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical language into plain English.
  • Participates in continuing education to stay abreast of new research and technology trends.
  • Creative and innovative in developing new products and improving existing ones.
  • Logical thinker, able to understand complex systems and problem-solving.
  • Able to develop mathematically complex calculations.
  • Good problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop solutions quickly.
  • Team player, collaborates effectively within the department and cross-functionally.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of various computer programs and systems used in engineering projects.
  • Knowledgeable in statistics and other mathematical techniques.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in relational database programming.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with techniques for manipulation and analysis of very large data sets.
  • Ability to write complex algorithms.
  • Highly skilled in database query languages like SQL.
  • Familiarity with statistics and other mathematical techniques.
  • UNIX/Linux experience.
  • Competence with scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, Perl).
  • Experience in a healthcare or financial services environment.
  • Experience with healthcare data types strongly preferred, including claims for medical, pharmacy, dental, and other claim types.
