Role Description

The thesis of the engagement consultant career track is that you’re not just building an analytics ecosystem, your expertise is also in being a key part of solution ideation and business impact enablement. As the Principal Analytics Engagement Consultant, you:

• Write and publish PPL’s analytics standards for data modeling, the semantic layer, metric definitions, statistical method, documentation, and reproducibility.
• Co-author the enterprise analytics strategy with the VP of Analytics and hold the technical roadmap for the semantic and governance layer.
• Lead PPL’s most consequential engagements with cross-functional executive sponsorship, regulatory exposure, or material P&L impact.
• Work with PPL Data Architects to ensure the semantic layer, canonical data models, and metric definitions meet quality and rigor standards.
• Shape executive questions, reframe incorrect ones, and influence decisions based on evidence.
• Defend methodology under regulatory and audit scrutiny, establishing PPL as a partner with integrity and analytical rigor in the Medicaid market.
• Review and approve work of analytics team members, developing talent toward Principal-level judgment.
• Own the evolution of the function’s methodology, tooling standards, and operating model with the VP.
• Set the culture of the craft, emphasizing intellectual honesty and partnership with the business.
• Stay in the code, building complex models and serving as a reference implementation for others.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive analytics, data science, analytics engineering, or consulting experience, including 5+ years at the Staff, Principal, or equivalent level.
• Production ownership of dbt projects at enterprise scale.
• Proven authority in defining analytical methodologies and serving as the final reviewer for high-impact analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous analytical work that withstands executive, regulatory, and audit-level scrutiny.
• Deep hands-on expertise with contact-center platforms and data.
• Advanced SQL expertise with working knowledge of Databricks, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and orchestration tools; Python experience is beneficial.
• Proven ability to translate complex analysis into compelling narratives that influence decisions.
• Strong track record of developing analytics professionals through mentorship and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive experience in analytics, data science, analytics engineering, or management consulting, including 5+ years at a Staff, Principal, or equivalent level.
• Experience with analytical work that shaped enterprise decisions and stood up to scrutiny.
• Authority over methodology at an organizational level.
• Hands-on depth in contact-center data (Genesys, Five9, NICE, Amazon Connect, or similar).
• Production ownership of dbt projects at enterprise scale.
• Senior-level SQL proficiency (Python is nice to have).
• A record of changing executive decisions through evidence and narrative.
• Delivery of solutions demonstrating strong system-driven strategic thinking.

Education

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in computer science or information technology.
• Preferred experience in healthcare, Medicaid, or regulated industries.
• Consulting partner-track experience or principal-level analytics work at a mature technology company is a strong differentiator.
• Experience in evolving a semantic or governance layer at enterprise scale is a standout qualification.

Compensation

$162,500 - $214,000. This role is eligible for a base salary within the posted range. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and geographic location.
