[Hiring] Insights Analyst - Energy and Air Quality @CREA - Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air

3d ago - CREA - Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air is hiring a remote Insights Analyst - Energy and Air Quality. πŸ’Έ Salary: unspecified πŸ“Location: Europe, Asia

Role Description

The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) is looking for an Insights Analyst. You will work closely with analysts and data scientists to turn research into clear, compelling and influential outputs. From the earliest stages of a project, you will help identify research opportunities, shape analytical concepts, interpret findings, and develop narratives that connect energy market developments with the clean energy transition, air quality, affordability, energy security and economic resilience.

CREA is starting a new unit to produce responsive insights and analysis, to address a critical gap in the clean energy community’s ability to respond to fast-moving developments in global energy markets. It will combine data and analysis with proactive strategic communications, producing timely insights that can inform political and economic decision-making as well as shape media coverage.

The Unit will work to anticipate and prepare for opportunities to produce analysis, stories and commentary about how clean energy and electrification can strengthen energy security, affordability and economic resilience; and respond to events such as fossil fuel supply shocks, air pollution episodes, blackouts, extreme weather events, infrastructure failures and unexpected policy developments.

Over its initial 12-month pilot, the Unit will produce short, media-ready analysis; develop relationships with international, regional and financial journalists; and establish rapid response systems and tools that can be used by CREA and partners.

Qualifications

  • At least 3–5 years of experience in research, policy analysis, journalism, consulting, or another analytical environment.
  • Higher education or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field, such as energy, environmental science, economics or a related discipline.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly and accurately for different audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to engage critically with quantitative evidence, data visualizations and technical reports; ability to identify the key messages and policy implications from complex analytical work.
  • Knowledge of energy markets, electricity systems, fossil fuels, clean energy or air quality and willingness to expand the knowledge domain.
  • Experience engaging with media, policymakers, civil society organisations or international institutions.
  • Experience producing high-quality reports, policy briefs, articles, or other analytical publications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with multidisciplinary and international teams.

Requirements

  • Experience working with data analysts, scientists or technical researchers.
  • Experience developing effective data visualisations or working with designers to communicate analytical findings.
  • Experience working across different cultural and political contexts, with an appreciation for locally grounded perspectives and evidence-based communication.

Benefits

  • Employment contract or project-based contract.
  • A remote & time-flexible working environment.
  • Remuneration based on skills and experience.
  • A meaningful and impactful mission.
  • Health insurance.
  • A budget to set up facilities for remote work: required equipment, e.g. a membership to a co-working space.
  • Opportunities for international travel.
  • Potential to work full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate.
  • Opportunities to work with senior policymakers and for your analysis to be quoted by top-tier media outlets.
  • Competitive benefits.
