Role Description

UNICEF USA’s Executive Office is seeking a Data & Insights Research Intern to support research and storytelling for Relentless, a LinkedIn newsletter written by our President & CEO, highlighting progress for children around the world. The intern will help uncover compelling research, data trends, and emerging insights that demonstrate how the world is improving for children despite ongoing challenges.

• Support future newsletter editions and thought leadership content across UNICEF USA channels.
• Collaborate with the Thought Leadership team, Social Media team, and the Community Alliance for Child Rights (CACR) team.
• Identify research findings, news stories, and scientific studies for engaging, evidence-based storytelling.

This internship would provide an opportunity to learn about:

• Research for thought leadership: identifying meaningful global trends related to child wellbeing.
• Data storytelling: translating academic research and datasets into accessible insights for public audiences.
• Digital content strategy: understanding how research informs newsletters and social media content.
• Global child advocacy trends: learning about policy, innovation, and youth-led initiatives improving outcomes for children.
• Cross-team collaboration: working with communications, research, and digital teams in a major international nonprofit.
• Monitoring research and media: tracking emerging studies, policy changes, and news related to child wellbeing.

By the end of the internship, the intern will have developed skills in research synthesis, trend spotting, and narrative development for mission-driven storytelling.

Qualifications

• Must be a current graduate student enrolled in a College or University degree program with research experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the entire timeline (June 2, 2026 – August 21, 2026).
• Current undergraduate or graduate student in public policy, international development, public health, sociology, economics, journalism, communications, data science, or related fields.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Ability to synthesize complex research into clear, concise summaries.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Interest in global development, child rights, youth advocacy, or social impact.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple research threads.
• Familiarity and comfort interpreting statistics and scientific literature for a general audience.
• Comfort working collaboratively across teams.

Requirements

• Interns can work up to 30 hours maximum a week during the Summer cohort.
• Must provide their own equipment (e.g. laptop) and have access to a stable internet connection.

Benefits

• The pay for this role is $18.00 per hour, up to 30 hours per week.
