Role Description

We are building the analytical backbone of a company that believes decisions should be powered by clarity, not guesswork. Our Business Intelligence team builds on top of a data platform that has to be there every morning - healthy, current, and trusted.

This is a core data engineering role. You own the operational health of our data platform, and you keep making it better.

• Your working hours: 5 am-2pm CEST, which overlaps with our overnight processing window.
• You will monitor overnight processing, resolve failures, and hand a healthy platform to the European team each morning.
• You will keep the orchestration layer healthy: Airflow DAGs and the Python jobs behind them across Windows and Linux VMs.
• You will investigate and fix recurring issues in our on-prem Microsoft SQL Server environment.
• You will hunt down data quality gaps and drive them to resolution with the data owner.
• You will extend the platform as the business grows by modeling new source domains into the warehouse.
• You will build automated data quality gates.
• You will tune slow SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and execution plans.
• You will turn recurring fixes into permanent ones through better alerting, logging, runbooks, and automation.
• You will be the last check on AI-assisted work before it reaches production.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of core data engineering experience in a production environment.
• Microsoft SQL Server professional with stellar T-SQL and real optimization depth.
• Data modelling judgment with the ability to design warehouse tables and dimensional models.
• Strong Python and production Airflow experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering and the rigour to verify it.
• Proficiency in Git and GitLab for branching, merge requests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Environment fluency with debugging on both Windows and Linux VMs.
• Ownership by default, with clear communication skills.
• Availability to work consistently within the 5am-2pm CEST window.

Requirements

• Microsoft Fabric experience (Lakehouse or Warehouse, Data Factory pipelines, OneLake) is a plus.
• Experience building your own MCP servers or internal LLM tooling.
• Familiarity with Power BI or another BI tool as a consumption layer.
• Exposure to fast-growing B2C or subscription-driven businesses.
