Role Description

The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship experience that provides undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to attend development workshops, network, and be part of our company. Our college interns work on meaningful projects, are mentored under their respective managers, and continue to develop throughout the entire summer.

• This is a paid 10-week summer internship from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week).
• Interns may reside in either a technical or non-technical area.
• Development workshops are provided to help with the transition from school to the corporate environment.
• Housing is not provided as part of our program.

Essential Accountabilities:

• Evaluate opportunities to reduce healthcare costs and improve the value of care through medical claims analysis.
• Work with medical economics, clinical, and data analytics teams to investigate a cost savings initiative.
• Assess the potential opportunity using internal and external data.
• Develop estimates of short-term and long-term financial impact under various assumptions.
• Work with a mentor and support key strategic projects.
• Complete work assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.
• Perform a mix of technical and/or non-technical tasks covering a broad range of business-related projects.
• Create and deliver presentations at the completion of the internship.
• Demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values.
• Maintain confidentiality and protection of member privacy in accordance with company policies.
• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
• Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Desired Majors/Degree Programs Include: Actuarial, Statistics, Math, Economics or similar program(s).
• Preferred (but not required) experience with:
  • Excel
  • Coding (SAS, SQL, R, Python)
  • Communicating across various teams
• High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work well in a team, establishing good working relationships with peers.
• Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
• Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as on intra- and inter-departmental teams as needed.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed.

Compensation Range(s)

• Level I - Minimum $18.00 - Maximum $20.00
• The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position.
• Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s minimum qualifications.
• The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package.
