Role Description

The Business Analyst participates on a small team of 2-5 business analysts contributing to the planning, design, development, and launching of efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.

The Business Analyst role requires an intermediate understanding of insurance workflows and systems. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, have a service mentality, and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

The Business Analyst is a member of the Surplus & Specialty Lines (SSL) Digital Services team, supporting the Underwriting, Claims and Billing & Collections business units. SSL underwrites both admitted and non-admitted business for General Liability, Automobile Liability, Workers Compensation, Property, Inland Marine, and Excess/Umbrella lines of business across multiple industry verticals, including but not limited to Contracting, Transportation, Energy, Security, and Environmental.

What you will do:

• Strategy & Planning
  • Participate in meetings with business unit leadership, systems owners, and end users to define system requirements, and identify existing issues.
  • Participate in meetings with business and IT (Information Technology) Stakeholders in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Participate in design sessions to prototype new systems to enhance business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Participate in roadmap planning based on the defined goals, objectives and priorities of the assigned business units.
  • Adhere to scope and parameters of systems analysis to define predictable outcomes and action plans.
  • Conduct analysis to make recommendations or suggest alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems and processes across the organization.
• Execution & Delivery
  • Adhere to established project timeline for delivery of project milestones, and communication plan for reporting project status.
  • Provide systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to development teams, as required.
  • Identify the cause for issues based on the findings, complete with probable causes and viable solutions.
  • Collaborate with Digital Service teams to ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
  • Coordinate testing of application systems, including end-user acceptance, and quality assurance reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
  • Provide documentation, training materials, orientation, and training to end users for all modified and new systems, as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 2-5+ years relevant experience working in a Business Analyst capacity within P&C Insurance, certain certification may be required.
• Experience in the design, development, and implementation of software solutions, systems, or products in support of underwriting, financial or claims application systems.
• Experience working with Duck Creek Policy or similar platforms to support P&C insurance and digital transformation programs.
