Role Description

The Technical Support Scientist serves as a key scientific and technical resource supporting Bionano’s customers and internal teams. This role combines remote technical support with field-facing responsibilities, including customer training, application support, and collaboration with sales and field teams. The ideal candidate will leverage deep expertise in genomics and molecular biology workflows to troubleshoot, educate, and enable customers to successfully adopt Bionano technologies while driving high levels of customer satisfaction and product utilization.

• English communication proficiency at B2 level or higher.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills (verbal and written).
• Customer-focused mindset with a strong commitment to customer success.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to travel up to 50% (if necessary, based on business need) for customer engagements and field support.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with genomics technologies (e.g. optical genome mapping, NGS, structural variation analysis, cytogenomics).
• Experience supporting life science assays, instrumentation, or software platforms in a customer-facing role.
• Prior experience in technical support, applications support, or field applications.
• Ability to deliver technical training, workshops, and scientific presentations.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, data analysis, and interpretation of genomic data.
• Additional language competencies (beyond English).

Education and Experience Requirements

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, or related field.
• 2+ years (PhD) or 3–5 years (MS) of relevant experience in genomics, molecular biology, or related applications.
• Prior experience in a customer-facing role within biotech, diagnostics, or life sciences preferred.
