[Hiring] Pre Service Center (PSC) Specialist @BMC Software

Role Description

The Pre-Service Center (PSC) Verification Specialist role belongs to the Revenue Cycle Patient Access team and is responsible for coordinating all financial clearance activities by navigating all pre-registration, obtaining referral authorization, or precertification number(s), and pre-service cash collections. This role ensures timely access to care while maximizing BMC hospital reimbursement and requires adherence to quality assurance guidelines as well as established productivity standards.

This position reports to the Pre-Service Center Supervisor and requires interaction and collaboration with important stakeholders in the financial clearance process, including:

• Insurance company representatives
• Patients
• Physicians
• Boston Medical Center (BMC) practice staff
• Case management
• Patient Financial Counseling

This is a Remote Position.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required
• Additional professional certifications or completion of Revenue Partners training programs preferred
• SDK class training strongly preferred
• At least one year of registration experience
• Advanced knowledge of insurance payers and requirements

Requirements

• Strong customer service skills with sound judgment, independent thinking, creativity, and problem-solving ability
• Solid understanding of healthcare insurance (HMO, PPO, authorizations), with knowledge of healthcare terminology and CPT/ICD-10 codes
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, professionalism, empathy, and the ability to build effective relationships
• Comfortable working independently, handling ambiguity, taking initiative, and balancing multiple competing priorities
• Close attention to detail with strong decision-making and judgment capabilities
• Experience with Epic preferred, including proficiency in Epic workqueues
• Strong understanding of Revenue Cycle processes and ability to meet productivity and performance standards
• Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and data entry/interpretation
• Team-oriented, able to work cross-functionally, provide backup coverage, and assist throughout the department as needed
• Proven ability to handle challenging situations while maintaining strict confidentiality of personal and health information

Compensation

Compensation Range: $24.05 - $29.31. This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer, including education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
