Role Description

Join Teleperformance as a Specialized Services Customer Expert I, advertised as a Language Interpreter. This is a completely remote position with a competitive pay rate of CAD 23/hour.

• Handle calls or videos on demand, interpreting conversations between Mandarin and English speakers.
• Break communication barriers across various industries including:
  • Healthcare
  • Government
  • Insurance

  • Court
  • 911
• Process information quickly and recognize sensitive cultural differences.
• Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, using appropriate terminology.
• Respond promptly to audio and video interpreting sessions.
• Participate in online training sessions.
• Deliver interpretation services via audio and type data on a company-provided device.
• Render correct concepts according to established interpretation protocols.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions.
• Stay calm during challenging situations, especially in emergencies.
• Follow client instructions to meet expectations of Limited English-speaking Persons (LEP).
• Understand industry-specific protocols and terminology.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity in a diverse environment.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Mandarin and English, with an understanding of cultural dynamics.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminologies is an advantage but not required.
• Current employment by a client of LanguageLine Solutions may affect eligibility.

Requirements

• Private and secure location for confidentiality.
• Area free from distractions and noise.
• Cable modem installed by the desk.
• Access to electrical outlets by the desk.
• Supplemented lighting (recommended LED Ring light).
• Windows covered with blinds and/or curtains for privacy.
• Desk or workspace that supports a desktop (or monitor/keyboard), mouse, and supplemented lighting.
• Adjustable chair.
• Excellent home internet (hardwired; Wi-Fi connections are not permitted).
