[Hiring] Insurance Verification and Authorization Specialist @Virtual Rockstar

Role Description

This is a remote position. Virtual Rockstar is hiring a Medical Virtual Assistant (Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist) on behalf of a physical therapy practice to support insurance verification, authorization management, and patient coordination. This role is ideal for someone highly detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with strong communication skills and experience working with insurance processes. You will play a critical role in ensuring all patient insurance and authorizations are properly handled ahead of appointments to prevent billing issues and support a seamless patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Insurance Verification & Authorization
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for all new patients prior to appointments.
  • Ensure insurance information is accurately entered into the EMR system.
  • Identify copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket costs before patient visits.
  • Obtain and manage prior authorizations as required by insurance providers.
  • Ensure all scheduled appointments have proper authorization to avoid denials.
  • Liaise with insurance companies to clarify coverage and resolve issues.
  • Track and follow up on pending authorizations and insurance requirements.
• Patient Coordination & Communication
  • Communicate with patients regarding insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibility.
  • Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, and messaging platforms.
  • Coordinate closely with front office schedulers and office management.
  • Support a smooth and positive patient experience from intake through treatment.

  • Weave (VOIP)

Qualifications

• Proven experience in insurance verification and prior authorizations.
• Strong understanding of insurance benefits, copays, deductibles, and coverage details.
• Experience working in a physical therapy or healthcare setting is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Highly organized with the ability to multitask.
• Proactive and able to work independently.
