Role Description

Credentialed Veterinary Support Staff are assigned to different service lines based on our company needs and the applicant's background/experience. Below you will find information on the different service lines and positions we're currently hiring for, as well as information about schedules, training, and pay ranges. Please review and select which position you are most interested in when completing the application.

Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) Representative II

The PPH Representative is responsible for responding to incoming cases on Pet Poison Helpline and our animal nurse lines via telephone and chat regarding potential toxic exposures, poisonings, and other adverse events or general care inquiries from pet owners. Responsibilities include:

  • Taking full histories and details of the events.
  • Triage the cases and provide accurate medical, health, and safety information to the callers.
  • Documenting each case in an electronic record and following up as necessary.
  • Managing cases under pressure and communicating with callers in various emotional states.

Full Time Schedule Options

  • Mid Shift:
    • Works 40 hours per week; 4 shifts per week, each shift is 10.5 hours long.
    • Shifts scheduled between 10am-10:30pm CST.
    • Works every other weekend and rotating holidays.
    • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
    • Schedules issued several weeks in advance.
  • Evening Shift (includes a $2/hour shift differential):
    • Works 40 hours per week; 4 shifts per week, each shift is 10.5 hours long.
    • Shifts scheduled between 2pm-2:30am CST.
    • Works every other weekend and rotating holidays.
    • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
    • Schedules issued several weeks in advance.

Part Time Schedule Option

  • Evening Shift:
    • Works 20 hours per week; 4 shifts per week, each shift is 5 hours long.
    • Shifts scheduled between 5pm-12am CST.
    • Works every other weekend and rotating holidays.
    • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
    • Schedules issued several weeks in advance.

Veterinary Industry Representative II

The Veterinary Industry Representative II (VIR) position is responsible for responding to incoming cases through SafetyCall International via telephone regarding potential adverse events and other questions or concerns from pet owners and veterinary professionals related to various products. Responsibilities include:

  • Taking full histories and details of the events.
  • Triage the cases and provide accurate medical, health, and safety information to the callers.
  • Documenting each case in an electronic record and following up as necessary.
  • Managing cases under pressure and communicating with callers in various emotional states.

Full Time Schedule Option

  • Day Shift:
    • Works 40 hours per week; 5 shifts per week, each shift is 8.5 hours long.
    • Shifts scheduled between 7am-5pm CST.
    • Works occasional holidays.

Training Requirements for all positions/shifts

  • Full-time and Part-time candidates must commit to a 4-6-week, full-time, paid, remote training process.
  • Training schedules are determined in advance and may include daytime/evening hours as well as weekends.
  • No scheduling conflicts can be accommodated during the training process.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years experience working in a veterinary clinic/hospital performing duties similar to those of a veterinary technician/assistant.
  • Ability to work varying shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain active licensure, if applicable.
  • Above average proficiency with keyboarding, PCs, Microsoft Office, and common computer software and hardware.
  • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Clear, concise, accurate, professional, empathetic, and compassionate verbal and written communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and spelling with the ability to accurately enter data.
  • Ability to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to gather and analyze complex or diverse information.
  • Customer service focused attitude and behavior.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients' products, procedures, and case detail.
  • Remote employees must meet and maintain IT requirements following SCI policies.

  • Employees must have a workspace that allows them to work without interruptions or distractions.
  • Employees must not have any other responsibilities during work hours.

Pay & Benefits

  • The starting base rate of pay is between $20-21/hour.
  • Shift differentials are applied on top of the base rate if applicable.
  • Weekend phone shifts between 12am CST on Saturday through 4am CST on Monday receive an additional $5/hour differential.
  • Pay varies based on education, experience, and credentials.
