[Hiring] Bilingual Chinese & English Outreach Team Lead @Asian Pacific Environmental Network

Role Description

APEN seeks to hire a team of outreach workers to participate in APEN’s civic engagement programs. This is a temporary non-exempt part-time position aimed at increasing the civic participation of low-income Asian immigrant communities in California. The Outreach Team Lead will lead a team of Outreach Workers in engaging voters and convincing them to complete a survey on environmental justice issues affecting poor people, immigrants, and communities of color in California.

This position is part-time, no more than 35 hours a week, starting as early as April 20th and ending on June 10th, 2026, with the exact schedule to be determined, tentatively scheduled for 3pm-9pm, Monday through Thursday. The hourly rate is $26. This position will not include benefits except for sick pay and an internet and phone stipend based on hours worked at the end of the program.

Qualifications

• Commitment to the mission and principles of APEN and environmental economic, racial, and gender justice.
• Fluent in English, Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
• Strong motivation and adaptability, including the ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
• Basic computer skills, ability to complete web forms.
• Experience with running a phone banking program, doorknocking outreach, and supervision experience preferred.
• Able to work full canvass shifts Monday-Friday (5PM to 9PM) including additional weekend hours. Exact hours to be finalized.
• Have access to a computer and stable internet for the phone banking program.
• Ability to come in-person to one of APEN’s offices to show I-9 Documentation.

Requirements

• Experience working in Asian immigrant communities.
• Able to give and receive constructive feedback.

Accessibility and Working Conditions

• This position will require applicants to work on a computer daily for long periods of time and collaborate with staff through Zoom, email, and other digital platforms.
• This position is remote with the exception of coming into any APEN office 1 time to show required I-9 Documentation.
• This position will follow APEN’s COVID safety policies and protocols regarding in-person work. Masks are required in APEN offices and indoor events, except for eating and drinking.
• All employees are required to be vaccinated as part of our safety policy or be subject to weekly testing.
• This position requires work during irregular hours including nights and/or weekends.
• This position will not require carrying or moving heavy equipment, regularly ascending or descending a ladder, or standing or sitting for long periods of time.
• This position will not require working in hazardous or unusual conditions such as outdoors in inclement weather.
