[Hiring] Compliance, International Investigations Associate @Coinbase

Role Description

As a Senior Investigator in Coinbase’s Financial Intelligence Unit within Compliance (2LoD), you’ll help drive Coinbase’s financial crime investigations capability across multiple jurisdictions. This team leads complex reactive and proactive investigations, develops intelligence on emerging typologies and risk patterns, and translates investigative insights into high-quality SAR/STR decisions, escalations and programme improvements. You’ll work on high-impact matters across Coinbase’s global platform, partnering closely with MLROs, local compliance teams, operations teams and cross functional stakeholders to protect Coinbase and its customers from financial crime.

• Own end-to-end investigations into complex AML/CFT matters, from alert review or referral, through case development, disposition and SAR/STR submission to relevant FIUs.
• Conduct delegated MLRO reviews of Suspicious Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Reports prior to filing, ensuring accuracy, quality and regulatory defensibility.
• Lead proactive investigations, using transaction data, on-chain activity, trading behaviour and cross functional intelligence and OSINT to identify emerging typologies, threat patterns and high-risk activity.
• Develop actionable intelligence from casework and analytics to inform escalations, regulatory reporting, control enhancements and improvements to detection and investigation workflows.
• Partner internally with Country MLROs, local compliance teams, operations teams and other stakeholders on high-risk matters, information sharing and investigation strategy.
• Partner with law enforcement agencies and external stakeholders on suspicious activity reporting, information requests, and intelligence sharing.
• Support investigation quality through case review, structured feedback and contributions to policies, procedures, training and programme maturity.

Qualifications

• 4+ years conducting and reviewing complex crypto financial crime investigations including experience across a range of products such as retail and institutional transfers, spot trading and derivatives.
• Experience preparing, reviewing and filing SARs/STRs with strong understanding of multi-jurisdiction AML/CTF regulatory obligations and reporting expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to perform data-driven investigations using SQL, blockchain analytics tools and other research techniques to extract investigative insights, identify suspicious behaviour and develop defensible conclusions.
• Strong investigative judgement and the ability to produce clear, structured long-form reports tailored to technical, compliance, leadership, and cross-functional audiences.
• Experience identifying financial crime typologies, contributing to proactive investigations and turning investigative findings into programme or control improvements.
• Utilises generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Benefits

• Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): £55,620 — £61,800 GBP
• Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility and benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).
