[Hiring] Regional Communications Officer @American Friends Service Committee

Role Description

The Regional Communications Officer will implement and update the regional internal and external communications strategy, focusing on changing narratives around forced migration and climate-driven mobility.

• Develop and execute creative communications action plans for key audiences.
• Design and implement communications strategies to counter xenophobic narratives.
• Support human rights monitoring and documentation efforts.
• Regularly update the editorial calendar and tools for monitoring activities.
• Generate periodic reports on the impact of activities.
• Coordinate with the Communications Department in Philadelphia.
• Collaborate on activities under Pillar 1 and Pillar 3 of the regional team.
• Support the systematization of program experiences and good practices.
• Participate in planning, monitoring, and internal coordination spaces.
• Update regional media mapping and manage relationships with media outlets.
• Produce written, visual, and audiovisual content highlighting the program's work.
• Maintain and expand relationships with partner organizations and media.
• Prepare narrative reports on communications activities for internal use.
• Manage activities, schedules, and budgets under supervision.
• Comply with AFSC's institutional policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social communications, journalism, social sciences, or related fields.
• Graduate studies in strategic communications, advertising/marketing, human rights, or related areas are a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications strategies.
• Proven experience in communications for social change and narrative change.
• Experience producing content for digital media and social media.
• Knowledge of forced migration and human rights context in Latin America.
• Experience managing media relations and thematic agendas.

Requirements

• Proficiency with digital tools for social media management and graphic design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to program areas.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
