[Hiring] Director, Technology Communications @Hims & Hers

Role Description

The Communications team at Hims & Hers shapes how the world understands our role in advancing modern health, building strategies that raise awareness, foster brand love, trust, and loyalty, protect our reputation, and drive adoption of our products and services.

As technology becomes an increasingly central part of our story, we're looking for a communications leader to shape how we tell that story to the world. You'll lead high-priority work spanning technology and product storytelling, AI and innovation narrative, engineering culture and talent communications, and technical thought leadership, building a comms strategy that positions Hims & Hers as a technology company as much as a healthcare company.

Reporting to the VP of Corporate Communications, you'll partner closely with:

• Global Product Communications team

This role calls for strong communications judgment, fluency in the technology and AI media landscape, and the ability to move easily between strategy and execution, translating deep technical work into narratives that resonate with consumers, trade press, and industry audiences alike.

You will thrive in the fast pace of a startup while stewarding a public company that serves people's health and well-being, and you know how to spot risk and opportunity in our technology narrative early, especially as AI and health intersect in ways the public is still learning to trust.

You Will:

• Lead communications strategy for technology and AI in partnership with the broader comms team.
• Drive communications for major technological product launches.
• Partner with leaders across Engineering, Product, Data Science, AI, and Security.
• Translate complex technical work into narratives that resonate with various audiences.
• Build and manage relationships with technology, business, and trade media.
• Develop ongoing campaigns that extend beyond launch moments.
• Serve as a strategic advisor and exec communications leader to the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer.
• Partner with the Internal Communications team on technology-focused moments.
• Partner with Corporate, Product, and Policy Communications on issues and reputation management.
• Use data and media insights to understand what's working and sharpen our impact over time.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in communications, with direct experience in technology, product, and corporate communications.
• A track record leading communications for major product launches or high-profile moments.
• Deep knowledge of the technology and AI media landscape.
• Experience partnering with engineering, product, data science, and technical stakeholders.
• Experience communicating in a space where technology, regulation, or reputational risk shapes communication.
• Experience developing narratives that make complex products clear and compelling.
• Ability to see the big-picture narrative while knowing when to adjust messages.
• Experience advising senior leaders and influencing cross-functional partners.
• Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
• Ability to operate with speed and sound judgment.
• A data-driven approach to communications.
• Genuine curiosity about and fluency in emerging technology and AI.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
