Role Description

The Director of Communications provides essential communication, digital media, and creative support for the Educating Character Initiative (ECI), a grant-funded project working to catalyze a movement in character education at colleges and universities across the U.S.

• Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy.
• Drive continued engagement with the ECI Community.
• Encourage connection between members and amplify grantees’ work.
• Oversee storytelling about the impact of our work.
• Contribute to the design and dissemination of character-related resources and reports.
• Attract participants to apply for grants.
• Support other communications activities of the Initiative and the Program for Leadership and Character as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of related experience.
• Exceptional ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong command of grammar, diction, and English usage in professional communications.
• Ability to think creatively and communicate strategically.
• Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter with a strong work ethic.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work professionally with diverse constituencies.
• High degree of professionalism, integrity, and dependability.
• Commitment to supporting the intellectual and ethical development of students, faculty, and staff.
• Proficiency with technology and computers, including Microsoft Office.
